Basically, wiki is an unmonitored, organic, self-evolving, publicly-editable website. ANYONE can create pages, or edit existing pages. New pages are created by inserting JoinedCapitalizedWords into the page text. When Wiki sees these specially-formatted words, it creates a new page under that "topic".
Note: You can never delete a page that you've added. So please exercise care in your page authoring.
The emphasis is on quality textual information, rather than fancy presentation and graphics.

I dont understand what prevents a user from just deleting all your content

You are not deleting the content but creating a new page with existing content. So, I will always have a copy of what you are going to edit. Please check the versions below. And you have no easy access to the previous versions :)
